I’m disappointed too anon:( I try really hard not to be, because Game of Thrones is my favorite thing ever, but yes, there are certainly parts about it that make me far less enthusiastic than i used to be.

I think the main problem is that we had different expectations of it. I could be wrong, but it seems the target audience Game of Thrones choose to focus on is male, didn’t read the books and watches the show mainly for the action/fantasy and the non-censored sex, nudity, violence and bloodshed HBO is known for. I can’t blame HBO for making this choice, it’s probably the best move they made in terms of commercial succes, but the part that stings, and what rubs most people on here the wrong way imo, is that most of the dedicated fandom on tumblr is predominantly female, did read the books and mostly sees the ‘action’ as an addition to the characters personal narrative, struggles and psychological growth and not the other way round. I sometimes feel like i’m on the other end of the spectrum than what D&D are aiming at. I’m sure they try to satisfy book readers as well, but in general… when they have to make choices, it’s not gonna be in favor of me and the things I care about in the books. And as a result the show leaves me unsatisfied.
